Lao Jia, whose real name is Jia Haoyi, was born in Jiming Village, Zunhua County, Hebei Province in 1936. He graduated from Beijing Academy of Art in 1961. He is a retired painter of Beijing Painting Academy, a national first-class artist, a member of the National Artists Association, a researcher of China National Academy of Painting, a special researcher of the Art Creation Research Center of China Academy of Arts, a special creation consultant, a member of the Art Committee of the Calligraphy and Painting Academy of the Central Academy of Literature and History, and the director of Lao Jia Art Museum. Lao Jia has been engaged in art for decades, constantly correcting his steps to return to "one, that is, "writing my heart with my own method." He pursues a powerful, thick, broad and modern Chinese painting style of freehand brushwork, which is known as "very freehand brushwork" by the world. His works are spread all over the world, and are collected and displayed in Europe, the United States, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. There is no classification in his paintings, and they all involve figures, landscapes, flowers and birds.
