The Geological Research Institute of the China Chemical Geology and Mining Bureau was formerly the Chemical Mining Geology Research Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. It was upgraded to the Chemical Mineral Geology Research Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1983. It is the only chemical mineral geology research institution directly under the former Ministry of Chemical Industry, under the business management of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and one of the 242 research institutes under the former national industrial ministries and commissions. At present, it can undertake national basic, public welfare, strategic geological and mineral exploration and land resources survey, physical and chemical prospecting, water conservancy and environmental geological survey, urban geological survey, agricultural geological survey, soil remediation, geological disaster investigation and prevention, national land space planning, land consolidation, beneficiation and processing experiments, analysis and testing, rock and mineral identification, graphic production and printing, journal editing and other businesses.
