Tendai Sect Gohosan Ankokuin Izumo-ji Temple Bishamon-do Bishamon-do is a Tendai sect temple that was founded in 703 by the imperial wish of Emperor Mommu. When it was first established, it was located near Izumoji Bridge in Kyoto (north of the current Imperial Palace) and was called "Izumo-ji Temple", but later became "Bishamon-do". Having overcome wars and fires, it was rebuilt in its current location in Yamashina in 1665. After Tenkai Daisojo and his disciple Kokai, who worked hard to restore Bishamon-do, Emperor Gosai's son Prince Koben Hoshinno entered the temple, and it became a "monzeki temple", and it remains one of the five Tendai sect Kyoto monzeki temples to this day.
