The highly decorated banner expresses the value of the Infantry Corps and of the men who have worn their uniform. The Republic pays homage to those who have lost their lives in the service of the Fatherland and its institutions, writing pages of Italian history. This year, at the gathering in Trieste, we are celebrating the four hundredth anniversary of the constitution of the 1st Infantry Regiment, created to serve the Duke of Savoy, Carlo Emanuele I and destined, over the centuries, to become the cornerstone, in 1861, of the Army of the Kingdom of Italy. To the meritorious activity conducted by the National Association of Infantrymen to renew the bond between the infantry of yesterday and today and to preserve their traditions, goes the appreciation of the Country.
