The Third Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a comprehensive tertiary TCM hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. Its predecessor was the Health Care Department of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was founded in 1984. In 1993, it was approved by the Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as the Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1999, the hospital and the Acupuncture Department of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine were "integrated into one department". In January 2003, the hospital was renamed the Third Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2009, it was included in the first batch of tertiary TCM hospitals in the province by the Henan Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In April 2011, the Provincial Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine approved the increase of the number of beds in our hospital to 1,000. After the overall relocation of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2010, 43.32 acres of land in the Dongming campus and its affiliated 61,000 square meters of houses were successively delivered to the Third Affiliated Hospital for use, laying the foundation and space for the hospital to achieve leapfrog development. In December 2013, the hospital moved from a secondary hospital to a tertiary hospital; in May 2014, it successfully passed the evaluation of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine as a "Grade 3A Chinese Medicine Hospital". In August of the same year, the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine officially approved the hospital to become a "Grade 3A Chinese Medicine Hospital". On November 16, 2014, the National Grade 3A Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Third Clinical Medical College of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were established. This is a major milestone in the development history of the hospital, marking that the Third Affiliated Hospital has entered a new stage of rapid development.
